Curtis Jones Praises Mohamed Salah and Sets Ambitious Goals for the New Season
Curtis Jones recently spoke about the impact of Mohamed Salah’s assist for his goal and his own aspirations for the upcoming season. Jones emphasized the importance of scoring and assisting more, highlighting how these contributions can solidify a player’s role in the team. Additionally, he addressed his current fitness status following minor injuries.
Jones on Salah’s Assist
Reflecting on Mohamed Salah’s assist for his goal, Curtis Jones expressed admiration for Salah’s vision and game-reading abilities. “That’s what he is great at and he reads the game as well. I just had an eye on the goal and I know Mo likes to get assists as well, he is fantastic at getting his head up and he put it on a plate for me,” Jones told the club’s official website. This acknowledgment underscores the synergy between the two players and Salah’s pivotal role in creating scoring opportunities for his teammates.
Improving His Game
Jones is determined to enhance his contributions on the field, particularly in terms of goals and assists. He stated, “That’s part of my game [scoring goals] I feel I can improve and get in the box more; I can score more goals. I can play deep and I can also play high. Football now has changed as it’s all about stats with goals and assists.” Jones is keenly aware of the evolving demands of modern football and the importance of statistical performance in maintaining a spot in the starting lineup. “I’ve got to try to improve my game and I think a big part of that is scoring goals, assist more and be involved as much as I can,” he added.
Inspiration from Teammates
Jones also recognized the success of his teammates who have made a name for themselves by consistently scoring goals. “We’ve got lads who have come in on the scene and made themselves a name by scoring goals. I think it’s an important part of the game,” he noted. Jones understands that being a reliable goal scorer can secure a player’s position in the team and aims to establish himself as such a player. “If you can keep yourself in the game by scoring goals and the manager sees you as a guy who can do that and can affect the game then you keep your shirt, so that’s what I’m going to try to do,” he asserted.
Current Fitness Status
Addressing concerns about his fitness, Jones reassured fans and the club about his readiness for the new season. He acknowledged minor injuries that led to his early exit in the Real Betis game but confirmed his overall fitness. “I’ve had a little bit of an ankle and a knee issue and that is why I came off early in the Real Betis game. But in terms of [fitness] I could have played the whole game then yes, but I got a whack on my back and the head coach just said to me, ‘We’ve took you off more as a precaution and we don’t need to risk anything,’” he explained. Jones concluded with confidence, stating, “If you are saying, ‘Am I fit?’ [then] 100 per cent I am ready for the start of the season.”
Curtis Jones’ reflections on Mohamed Salah’s assist and his own performance goals highlight his commitment to improving and contributing significantly to Liverpool’s success. With a focus on increasing his goals and assists, Jones aims to solidify his place in the team and make a lasting impact. His reassurance about his fitness further strengthens the optimism surrounding his readiness for the new season. As Liverpool prepares for the upcoming challenges, Jones’ determination and ambition will undoubtedly play a crucial role in the team’s pursuit of success.
