Enzo Maresca Discusses Defensive Adjustments After Clash Against Los Blancos
Following a match against Real Madrid, Enzo Maresca, head coach, spoke to reporters about the adjustments being made to the team’s defensive strategy. He emphasized the need to rectify issues that led to a high number of goals conceded in the previous season.
Lowering the Defensive Line
“One of my first meetings with the squad was about the amount of goals we conceded last year with the defensive line very high,” Maresca stated. He explained that the team is now working on dropping the defensive line by about four or five meters to gain a strategic advantage. “We are not working on defensive lines so high. It’s a habit from last year, or years ago, I don’t know. We are trying to drop the defensive line a little bit, usually about four or five metres, just to have some advantage.”
Aiming for Improvement
Maresca expressed hope that this adjustment would lead to a reduction in goals conceded. “Last year, we already conceded many goals with this problem. Hopefully, we can solve it very soon,” he said. The coach’s focus is on solidifying the defense to improve overall team performance.
Enzo Maresca’s comments highlight his proactive approach to addressing defensive weaknesses within the team. By adjusting the defensive line and emphasizing a lower position, Maresca aims to reduce the number of goals conceded and enhance the team’s defensive solidity. Fans will be watching closely to see if these strategic changes lead to the desired improvements on the pitch.
